Fly Fishing Rivers
Eucumbene River has been fishing a little better late in the

afternoons with the insect life getting more active we are

starting to see a few grasshoppers about now so let’s hope

this will bring more fish up the river. Not many big fish

have been Caught in the Eucumbene so let’s hope the

grasshoppers bring on the bigger fish soon.

We are starting to see more fish rising late in the

afternoons with the fish getting active on some Dry flies,

Stimulators, Royal Humpy’s, Snowy hoppers and Royal

wulffs.

If you are fishing in the middle of the days I do recommend

B/H Nymphs and fish the deeper parts of the river or get

closer to the banks.

Snowy river up past Island bend has been the pick of all the

rivers with some good reports coming in of browns and

rainbows taking dry’s and Nymphs so if you haven’t been this

way fishing give it a go you will be surprised the water is

running well and don’t forget to have a fish in Island bend

Dam.

Thredbo river is much the same as Eucumbene so if you are

heading up this way the best time to fish this river would be

late in the afternoons.

Best dries are Stimulators, Snowy hoppers, Royal Humpy’s,

Best wet flies are B/H Nymphs, and std Nymphs

Don’t forget there are many rivers around Adaminaby,

Jindabyne, Cooma, to go fishing not a bad time to start

looking around.

Hi Mick, just a quick note that there are good fish to be

Caught on the fly during the day, in lake Eucumbene one at

4.5lb the other just a touch over 6lb.

Lake Eucumbene:- still the fishing is a little tuff on the

fly in places not many rainbow are coming in but the

brown are still hanging around close to the shore line

with some good fish being Caught most fisherman

are doing well down the bottom end of the lake

around Seven gates, Rushes bay, and over at

Braemer

bay. With the better fish coming from braemer bay

most of the fish have been Caught on wet flies late

in

the afternoons on Woolly worms, woolly Buggers, Mrs

Simpsons, Craig’s night time.

Overall the fishing has been ok with some good

browns coming in yes it has been hard for some

fisherman but most are coming in with good results

let’s hope the Mudeyes start up soon along with the

grasshoppers things may change for the better the

rainbows will start coming in!!!! we hope.

Hey mick got this brown early morning on a small fuzzy with

a slow retrieve. thanks tory.

Lake Jindabyne:- has Improved over the Christmas

holidays with most of the fish Caught up around

Kalkite many of the fish being Browns.

Polarizing around the western side is still the best

way

to go with the locals doing very well most of the fish

are taking Nymphs and late in the afternoon the

fishing has been going well with Craig’s, woolly

buggers, Mrs Simpsons.

If you are fishing through the day fish most of the

deeper waters and as the sun goes down get to the

shallow bays this should get you the results you

want.

TROLLING AND SPINNING JINDABYNE & EUCUMBENE, Most of the fishing around Eucumbene has been good with some good reports coming in most of the fish have been taking Tassie’s up around Anglers Reach things have Improved the best areas are Illawong, Wattledale and down to Wangrabelle bay.

BAIT FISHING

Bait fishing has still been the way to go worms are doing the job along with Mudeye’s.
Best places to go are Buckenderra, Rushes, Seven gates, Anglers Reach.
Power bait has been working ok but as it has been for sometime now the rainbows are still out in the deeper waters.
At the moment the worms are doing the job and they will for sometime the browns are in close and out wide so if you are heading up to Eucumbene or Jindabyne
The bait fishing is good.
Starting to get reports of browns taking Mudeyes in the bays with a good drop off late in the afternoons if you can get some grasshoppers fish them the same as the Mudeye’s.
