Overall the trolling has been good now the weather has cooled down the fishing is getting better all day

The fishing has improved slightly here at Braemar, most anglers are
still struggling and it is a big mystery as to why this happening at a
time that is generally considered prime fishing, the weather has been
favorable, the wind has behaved but the fish don't seem to have received
their invitation, it really is disappointing to see that here as we are
approaching the end of March and fish are scarce.

Its not from a lack of effort either, we have had our busiest period at
camp since Christmas with dozens of visitors from all over, but most of
them are finding it hard to get amongst any fish, the Johnston gang from
Geelong way have had a disastrous run with only 3 fish being caught in
their 8 day stay, they have tried absolutely everything in their fly
boxes and have pretty much drawn a blank on visits out on the water,
their best fish actually came from Providence section of the River last
week, Braemar has not been kind to them at all.

At the other end of the scale Vinny Ford has had a wonderful week
catching more than 20 fish of varying size, mostly Rainbows in the
700gms range with a couple nudging the kilo mark and a nice Brown around
1200gms, most of Vinny's fish have been caught on his home tied nymphs
and ant patterns with his Courdilud mudeye doing some damage after dark,
there were quite a few throwbacks in Vinny's total of 20 fish but at
least he had some decent action.

Robyn Wolski has once again out fished her male counterparts with a
magnificent 2 kilo Brown caught only a few hours after arriving here
this past weekend, Robyn's Brown was caught on Power bait Chunky Cheese
which has proved deadly here lately, Max Gengalaki also caught 2
Rainbows and a Brown all around a kilo on Chunky Cheese as well the same
day, Vic Lomas has put in big hours for only the occasional small
Rainbow but did spy a largish Brown cruising the edges which he managed
to cast at for it only to reject his fly and this has been the trend of
late unfortunately, the fish are there but very very fussy it seems.

Robert and Judy Leesom also put in big hours and long hikes to get to
unchartered areas to cast lures and bait fish, they had dozens of fish
follow their lures and bait but only hooked a few of them which was also
very disappointing for them, some very large Browns and Rainbows were
seen in far flung spots which is a good sign, its a pity no one is
actually hooking into these fish.

Alec Pereboeff made a guest appearance last Friday and managed a nice
Brown of 1100gms on a nymph while Steve Fisk drew a blank once again,
all in all the fishing is ordinary, I really cant explain it, normally
March and April are fantastic here at Braemar, surely it is all about to
happen, I may have to even get out and about to show everyone how it is
done !!!!!

We are still running our specials leading up to Easter, stay 7 nights
and pay for only 5 if you book after mentioning this add, it is only for
stays booked after March 27th until April 7th, so get in early, there
are only a few left now.

Pictured below are Alec Pereboeff and Robyn Wolski with their fine Brown
catches last week.

BAIT FISHING EUCUMBENE

Bait fishing is still at it's best with good reports coming in from Braemer, Middling Bank, rushes, Anglers Reach, Old Adaminaby and Buckenderra.
Best bait is still mudeye's and worms.
Mudeye's are starting to move and the fish are starting to get active Overall the bait fishing is great.
