Headlines :
Bit of a damp weekend in the mountains , but we're not going to complain about a bit of rain ! We had some good reports back in from those bait fishing Eucumbene , you just have to pick your area carefully with all mud about . This rain should also bring the main rivers up and hopefully get the bulk of the browns to drop out - so it will be worth a look for the poalaroding patrol on the next big high pressure system 
GOOD NEWS  :- Snowy River Shire Council & Snowy Hydro have had a grader crew out at Old Adaminaby again this week and have cleared off the silt form the old Denison st at Old Adaminaby and added gravel to the top turning/parking area as well . This ramp can now be used to launch larger boats with out too much trouble. This ramp will now be cleared regularly to keep access for launching boats open on lake Eucumbene.Snowy Hydro are also looking at improving launching area's at Anglers Reach and the Dam wall - so we'll keep you posted.
Fly-fishing
Rivers:- NOW CLOSED Until Saturday the 30th of September 2006
Lake Eucumbene:- Still some very nice rainbows averaging .800 grams to 1kg being caught at present. The rainbows seem to come in for that hour on dusk chasing yabbies and at first light. Steeper shale banks around the dam wall and western shores are well worth.The falling lake levels have really got the yabbies moving, so fishing a woolly bugger into the night will help you find the better browns.You can also target that trophy fish right through winter around the mouths of the main river tributaries so long as your not fishing in flowing waters well below the first set of rapids
Lake Tantagara :- No reports this week.
Lake Jindabyne:- Mostly evening fishing with large streamers like woolly buggers and fuzzy wuzzys etc. With the browns now on their way it won't be long till we start to get some polaroiding in, with conditions looking set for a great winter period. Area's worth a look include Stinky Bay, Sid's bay, Hatchery Bay, Creel Bay , Snowy arm and Kalkite.You can also target that trophy fish right through winter around the mouth of the Thredbo river at Waste point/Creel Bay, so long as your not fishing in flowing waters well below the first set of rapids
Trolling
*Luke Kain from Cooma fished soft plastics up around Anglers Reach out of his Kayak , using Berkley 3" bass minnows in pearl watermelon shad for 2 browns and 5 rainbows to 1.4kgs.
Eucumbene:- The great trolling continues, just stick to the main launching area's with the falling lake levels I.e.: Buckenderra , Old Adaminaby, Anglers Reach & Breamar Bay. Both flatlines and leadlines at 3 colours have been producing the goods. The rainbows are in peak condition and averaging around the 1kg mark, feeding heavily on yabby's with the falling water levels, while some better browns have also started to show up as they get itchy for spawning. Consistent lures include Tasmanian Devils in Cols 36,89,55, 72,S12, Y82 & Y62. Our own Alpine Cobra's in the Alpine special,Pink Wings and Pink Bits patterns, Rebel minnows and crawfish,ultra deep Merlins,Stump Jumpers,Rapala minnows and jointed shad raps , RMG Scorpions & Poltergeist.

Jindabyne:- We have had some great reports back in from Jindabyne over the last few weeks. The best area's have been in the main basin out around the islands in front of town & Sid's Bay over at East Jindy, up around Waste Point and at the top of the lake around Kalkite. Fishing a mixture of small minnows like RMG Scorpions, Merlins , Rapalas & Attacks along with Tassies in just about all the "Yellow Wing",as well as our own Alpine Cobra's in the Alpine Special & Pink Wings patterns producing the goods.
Baitfishing
*Lawrence,Stephen,Bowden & Justin from Queanbeyan fished over night out at Anglers Reach Saturday with Powerbait in Rainbow and sherbet colours for 10 rainbows and 2 browns averaging .800 grams.
*Nick Wares and Josh Matruglio from Canberra fished Anglers Reach as well with lime twist Powerbait for 4 nice rainbows Sunday to 1.2kgs.
The baitfishing has been unbelievable over the last few months with incredible catches coming in from Eucumbene. Just about all the main baits have been taking fish with scrubbies & Power Bait accounting for the most captures. Make sure you pick an area with plenty of weed and some structure like rocks and tree's. The most popular rig is to run your main bait with a Powerbait dropper ( Pictured below ).Power bait naturally floats, so the distance you make your dropper is the distance you can expect your Power bait to be above the bottom. This means that fish will find your bait a lot quicker even if you have cast into weeds. If they don't eat the Power bait they have found your main bait a lot quicker. The hook is important when fishing with Power bait and we have a special NEW "circle hook" pattern from Mustad just for the job - which hooks them for you ! Feel free to ask us to go over the rig next time your in if still unsure.
* Robin & Bill from Ayres Inlet in Victoria have been doing very well out at Anglers Reach baitfishing with scrub worms and powerbait in orange and rainbow colours. They have caught over 50 fish ( releasing most ) in the last two weeks with rainbows up to 1kg and a few browns up to 2.5kgs.Just have to pick your spot carefully to avoid the mud.
*Toby & Jake from Canberra fished out at Anglers Reach with wood grubs and Powerbait in pink and chartreuse colours for 12 rainbows averaging .800 grams .
Powerbait Dropper Rig
Best areas on Eucumbene include: Rushy Plains Bay, Seven Gates, Yens bay, Breamar bay ,Providence around the Eucumbene River Mouth down towards Anglers Reach and along the dam wall at Eucumbene Cove.
Best area's on Jindabyne include: The clay pits in front of town, Hatchery bay, Hayshed bay , creel bay and Kalkite.
