Dear all

Can you please distribute this message below as widely as possible. Anglers in the Canberra and Cooma region may come across a tagged carp in the Murrumbidgee River and it would be good to keep them in the system no matter how much it hurts to "put one back". Thanks for supporting this effort.

Regards

Subject: Attention Upper Murrumbidgee Rec Fishers- Please RELEASE tagged carp if caught

31 tagged carp have been released into the upper Murrumbidgee River at Scottsdale (near Bredbo) and Murrells Crossing (downstream of Cooma). The tagged carp are marked with a long yellow tag near their dorsal fin (see below). These carp are implanted with electronic tags so their movements can be tracked to tell us how carp move up and down the river system.

"REMEMBER ONLY ONE FISH OVER 50cm"

*Remember that from the 1st of May the size and bag limit changes in the Eucumbene and Thredbo Rivers.  From May 1 you may only keep ONE fish OVER 50 cm per day in these waters.  Fisheries will be very active this season in these waters so make sure you stick to these rules and have your fishing licence with you while fishing.

FLY FISHING. More and more fish it's looking good!!
Eucumbene river is fishing well with recent rain falls the water temp is good.
Fish are starting to move up and the river and the river is running well most fishers are fishing around Denison with good results fishing with two Nymphs have been the best flies.
Down around the mouth has been good with fish holding up in most holes in good numbers.
Looks like the run has started early and after the rain and snow this week things are only going to get better.
Remember this is a great time to fish and to get some good photos so if you are catching and releasing take care off the fish get them back into the water as quick as possible.

Just call in we will let you know where the best spots are and what to use.

Hi mick,

Stopped passed around 11am on Monday and had a quick chat about the Euc and how it was fishing. Proceeded up towards sawyers hut and found a couple of nice runs.

As per advice I stuck to a tandem nymph rig with weight and it seemed to get a fair amount of attention. Lots of fair sized browns  river now and, from memory, the water clarity is better than the passed couple of weekends.

I was only on the water for around 3 hours but got into a nice brown of 4.5 lbs several others felt the fly but none of which ended up coming to hand.

Also exp rienced the difficulty of taking a selfie with a slippery, camera shy fish.

Cheers,
Locky

THREDBO RIVER.. Thredbo is starting to fire

 FLY FISHING LAKE EUCUMBENE

Fly fishing has been good with good reports coming from Eucumbene cove, Wainui bay, Rushes bay, frying pan and muzzle wood inlet.

Most fishers have been doing well late in the afternoons but with all this bad weather and all the rain things have picked early in the days with good rainbows and browns coming in close to the shore line.

Best flies are Mrs Simpsons, Woolly buggers, Muddlers, bead head Nymphs, late in the afternoons Fuzzy’s, Woolly worms and Nymphs as it gets dark the Lumo flies have been going great on the rainbows.

Good morning Mick,
Out of Buckenderra over the weekend with friends that have been traveling this great country for the past 15 years.
Showed them the lake and how to fish with lead core.
We motored around to seven gates but no takers there.
Started heading home and around Frying Pan arm I picked up 3 Rainbows.
This is the photo of 2 of them caught within minutes of each other.
Same old lure the smiling jack crick hopper and Rapala broken back brown trout pattern.
Looking forward to the next trip.
regards Alan Hocking

G-day Fellas
This is Tom and Ned with a couple of nice Browns caught on the troll at Eucumbene over the weekend, we had no luck with the bait but picked up some decent fish all trolling with  a variety of methods with  minnow style lures working the best in the late afternoon
