Rod from the alpine angler and friend out and about, One pic will give you a good idea where there fishing??

A mild start to Feburary combined with steady lake levels has helped Eucumbene and Jindabyne to fish consistently, with anglers cashing in on conditions and have had some exceptional days polaroiding shores such as seven gates and rushes, landing up to a dozen quality fish per afternoon.Nymphs, buggers or water boatman cast well infront of a cruising trouts path and allowed to sink or rest on the bottom and imparting life on the fly with a strip or twitch to gain the attention of the fish as it nears being a very succesful and visibly thrilling tactic.
Worms fished around drop offs, structure and edges are still the most effective bait while those floating a mudeye around in the lower light periods of the day also getting amongst good fish. Both shore based spinning and flat line trolling during these morning/evenings or overcast days with the trusty tassie devil and 5cm bullet getting plenty of results while lead line or down rigging at 10-12 meters during the day being the alternative to waking up early.Tantangara has dropped to 34% but certainly hasnt put the lakes residents off from taking advantage of mild weather.Worms, mudeye, hoppers and dyna grubs are the go for bait fishing with reports of from many of great fishing after dark, while black magic wobblers, bullet lures and rapalas doing the trick either trolled or cast from tangy's shore.Fly fishing has been great with polaroiding opportunities during the day and a reliable evening rise.Throughout the day cast terrestrial bugs like hoppers or beetles to sighted roaming fish and small emerging mayfly or midge patterns of an evening such as shaving brush, parachute bwo, klinkhammers and griffith gnats. All our streams and higher altitude lakes are really firing with large numbers of fish responding to lure and fly.Again small mapso celtas and bullets are the go to lures for spin fishos, while largish stimulators in yellow or royal bodies being the ace fly as they cover the hopper, beetle and even caddis so well.Thredbo,Eucumbene, upper and lower Snowy and Murrumbidgee are all continuing to flow beautifully through summer and the results speak for them selves just how good they are with some world class browns and the odd stonker bow.For more detailed info drop in for a cuppa and a chat.
Tight lines.

LAKE EUCUMBENE TROLLING
Trolling lake Eucumbene has been up and down in places but this all depends on the time you fish.
Trolling has been at it’s best early mornings from 5am till 9am and the results are showing with most fishers out at that time are getting good rainbows and browns.
So if you are a keen fisher stop fishing at gentlemen hours get up to get the results!!
Best areas are Buckenderra, Wainui Bay, Middling Bank, Rushes, Seven Gates, Middling Bank Peninsula

Remember early is the key we all know trolling in the middle of the day is going to be hard, Most points leading into the bays are picking up good fish
Don’t forget Braemer Bay early mornings up that way can bring good results.
Upper Eucumbene has had mixed results we all know it can be hard up that way so slow it down and get into the deeper waters larger tassies yes early mornings.

LAKE JINDABYNE TROLLING
Sorry no reports

LAKE TANTANGARA TROLLING
As always this lake is still fishing well from top to bottom it’s still at a good level and there’s plenty of insect life so most trolling has been done at a faster pace and with good results.

SPINNING ON LAKE EUCUMBENE
Spinning has been going well with good results coming in from most areas on the lake time hasn’t been a problem at all just get out there cover as much ground as you can.
Best Lures
Large Mapso’s , Small Tassies, Blades, Plastics,

Don’t forget about all other dams
Guthega, Island Bend, Dry Dam, Three Mile Dam, Sponar’s Dam, Rainbow Lake, Load up your lures give them ago there all fishing well.

BAIT FISHING EUCUMBENE
Bait fishing, things have Improved after all that hot weather and the worms have been the pick with good reports coming in from the bottom end of the lake.
Best areas are Buckenderra, Middling Bank, Rushes, Braemer Bay, Seven Gates,
Worms under a bubbles have been effective about 15 meters out and good results late in the afternoons on the bottom. Mudeye’s are still working well but hard to get and power bait is still going well with a 1/2 meter drop
Overall bait fish with worms have been the best bait .
And don’t forget about the new bait we have in stock just ask the staff and they will be happy to show you.
