carry your PFD & fishing licences as NSW Maritimes are out. Nsw fisheries inspectors are working the Snowy Mountains area during the peak holiday season. So remember if you do not have a current fishing licence and on your person you will be fined. So for the sake of 5 minutes do yourself a favour.

Maritime services are on the lakes, So make sure you water craft are up to par with current safety standards, if you are not sure contact Ph 13 12 56 or website: www.maritime.nsw.gov.au

Just a quick report....

What a great month November has been so far. Cool nights and water surface temps,rising lakes,coupled with nice warm days has produced excellent fishing in lakes Eucumbene, Jindabyne and Tantangarra.Flat line trolling bullets,rapala spotted dogs,strike pro flatz minnows and the ever reliable Tassie devil accounting for large numbers of fish.Spin fishing from the muddier edges has been popular all year with great results coming on overcast or windy days.7 gates,Buckenderra,and white rocks inlet on Euc while Kalkite,hatchery bay and waste point on jindy are prime easy to access areas for this style of fishing.Mudeyes have made a welcome return and the trout are loving them,early mornings or around dusk floating this nymphal stage of the dragonfly around timber or boulders being very successful.Scrubbies and powerbaits still picking up nice fish for those who prefer their sleep and wiuld rather casually fish through the day.Fly fishing has been terrific with wet fly on the tadpole/frog feeders around the soaks and we even had a couple of midge and termite hatches which got the attention of the resident trout and had them up and on the top.Rivers and streams are now a great option,with good run off from snow melt ensuring healthy flows and hatches.Spin fishos have been fairing well with #1 and 2 celtas and the 3cm bullet.Fish are looking up on majority of the smaller tributries,but it still pays to run a nymph dropper under your dry,especially on the larger rivers such as Euc and Thredbo...Damsel,snowflake caddis and mayfly are the most prolific aquatic insect at the moment and having an array of good imitations in your kit is handy for the fussier rising fish..Low rainfall has not done any of our lower lying rivers and creeks of the monaro any favours.While some creeks are still safe to fish without causing any detrimental impact,others have not faired so well.Be mindfull of these fragile creeks and a quick assesment should be taken of water qualities and temps before making a decision to fish or to move on to somewhere more suitable.in the meantime lets all pray for rain! ..for any more info,reports,enquiries,top up on gear or just to talk fishing,call us on 02 64525539 or drop in to the shop at 647 snowy mountains hwy Cooma.

LAKE EUCUMBENE TROLLING

Eucumbene is still pulling out the big guns with some good fish still coming out on the troll after last night’s rain things are starting to ramp up.

Braemer Bay best lures are Tassies, Rapala spotted dogs, large Mapso Spinners.

Seven gates is fishing well along the muddy banks about 20/30 meters out Browns and Rainbows

Anglers Reach has been fish ok in some areas with the best catches are all in the deeper waters.

Overall the trolling has been doing well best times are early mornings before daylight to around 10am

Spinning from the banks is still going great with some good rainbows and browns still on the boil.

Best lures are, Spotted Dogs, Blades, Large Mapso Spinners and most Plastics.

LAKE EUCUMBENE FLY FISHING

With the lake at 25% and steady the fishing is still going well and now the rain has finally come and the fishing has just started to better.

Braemer Bay, two woolly buggers in colour have been the killer at the moment with some good browns smashing them hard

Seven Gates, Mrs Simpsons, Fuzzy Wuzzys, Bead head Nymphs,

Rushes Bay, Bead Head Nymphs, Woolly Worms two and Woolly Buggers

Fishing late in the arvo into the night has been the best with some good fish moving around with some mud eye hatches going on now once it gets dark try using a red/black fuzzy wussy

One a cloudy day fishing has been going well all day with a very slow retrieve try using two flies any flies just make sure it’s two and slow.

When fishing with nymphs late in the afternoons try short quick retrieve seems to be the best.

FISHING RIVERS UP HIGH AND DOWN LOW

With last nights rain things are going to go well now just what the doctor ordered

On the Monaro all streams are fishing well won’t say what rivers just get out there have a go all rivers on the Monaro have fish in them and fishing well

Up higher in the mountains most rivers have been a little slower but are Improving all rivers are flowing well best flies are bead head nymphs.

BAIT FISHING

Bait fishing is still going great all over Eucumbene worms are the standout bait.

Worms are fishing well close to the shore line about 15 meters out mudeye’s are starting to pick up with some good results coming from the bottom end of the lake.

Tue night we had a load of rain and it’s been raining all Wed so things are looking up now good reports coming from seven gates, Rushes Bay and Braemer Bay all on worms and mudeye’s

Overall Bait fishing is at it’s best all over the lake
